Hydronaught Security Kiosk
This unique project was headlined by the collaboration between Monash lecturer Matthew Bird and university students. The project focused extensively on re-using and re-purposing discarded and waste materials to give them new life and reduce energy and material consumption. The external wall is crafted from vinyl truck sides, and the internal walls are re-purposed veneer ceiling tiles.
This project won the 2015 award for Best Small Project from the Australian Institute of Architects.
Simbuilt maintained a flexible approach, working to provide the core services, framework and structure as early as possible to allow ample time for the architect and students to salvage sufficient materials for the completion of the surfaces. The finished product is a unique space that stands out in stark contrast to its surrounds.
